Haven't Posted in a While

Mostly because I've been teaching (circus!) and writing reports (assessment!) at work but ALSO because we are just about 2 weeks away from the release of the first issue of Atom Magazine.  And I've got to tell you, I am so unbelievably proud and excited for this first issue.  It has been more work and more fun than I could have ever imagined.n  Keep an eye out on our website for more details about downloading and buying your own print copy!

Tonight, however, I leave all the work behind because I'm heading out to NYC for the weekend.  I haven't been back since November and my heart is aches for that concrete jungle.  Don't get me wrong, California is lovely and beautiful during the summer while NYC usually smells like garbage.  Going to New York in the hot hot summer is not a completely natural choice but no matter, I love it anyway.  And (almost) all my friends from college will be there, plus old friends from childhood and new friends (Jackie!).  It is going to be just the best.  My heart has already grown 3 sizes in anticipation.

I'm Not Dead, I Promise

I know I've gone into blog hibernation (blibernation? Hiberblogtion?) this past two weeks, but don't think that that means I wasn't thinking about all of you.  Quite the contrary, I thought of you all often and would then plan to write and then sit down at my computer and inevitably either fall asleep or get caught up watching Downton Abbey (if you haven't watched it yet, go to Netflix Instant immediately and watch it.  You won't be sorry).  I promise to do better in the future.


Now, let's get right down to it, can you believe it is March already? March is going to kick my ass, I can tell you this right now.  First off, I begin a 2 week stretch of teaching tiny kinder people tomorrow (we will be learning about mountains together, it should be a hoot).  Next, I head out to Chicago for a week of galavanting and meeting/schoomzing/ass-kissing with potential employers (My darling Marissa Schwartz will be there as well, so it all comes out in a wash, really).  Then The North Pool, my favorite show of the season, opens and I go on a whirlwind tour of the valley to prep students to see this show.  And let us not forget The Violet, who's first issue comes out around the end of the month (did you notice the fancy new button?  Thanks, Camilla, for making it look so lovely).  All in all it should be a great, busy month that I am looking forward to.  What is the saying?  I've posted about it before?  "March comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb."  It has never been proven to me to be true, but perhaps things will be different this time.  I have high hopes.  In fact, I spent tonight making yummy, teensy cupcakes (see above).  Any month that starts with baking can't be that bad.

Yet Again

I should be writing for my Wednesday night sketch guys (formerly known as my Tuesday night sketch guys) but alas, all I can do is watch this...

...and listen to the Country Strong soundtrack over and over again.  I am such a girl.  But seriously, look at Garrett Hedlund's face.  Can you really blame me, blogosphere?

As a side note, I'm seriously thinking of embarking on a country music career.  Though, having grown up in California (and Northern California at that), I've only been to the South once (though it was Texas, so that's go to to count for something).  But they'll overlook that, right?  I mean, if Keith Urban can be a country music star and he's from Australia, I can too.  (Actually, thanks to the magic of wikipedia, I just found out he was born in New Zealand. NEW ZEALAND.  If a Kiwi can be a country star, so can a California girl.  Boom.  Decided.)

It Gives You Wings

I feel like this might be self explanatory, but for those of you who don't love Liza as I do (and shame on you, by the way)....I am heading to my beloved NYC tonight after a YEAR long absence!  Yes, it is true (and I can't believe it), I haven't been back in a year (and 17 days...but who's counting...).  I am so unbelievably excited I am actually bursting at the seams.  My happiness cup overfloweth.


As my darling friend Rachel, who shall also be in NYC this weekend (thank god), said, "I'm going to hug everyone... and I mean everyone...in the whole city."  I hear ya, Rach.  It is going to be the most glorious home-away-from-homecoming that has ever happened.  Ever. So watch out, New York (and everyone in it), I'm a'coming.  And I've missed you terribly.
